Embracing History: Evolution of Aquapark Sport and Relaxation Center
Modernization and Expansion in Czech Republic
In the heart of the Czech Republic, the Aquapark Sport and Relaxation Center stands as a testament to the seamless integration of modernity with historical legacy. Architects Václav Navrátil and Jan Sedláček from SENAA architekti undertook the revitalization of the outdoor public swimming pool, complementing it with a new indoor swimming pool. The rich history of this aquatic haven dates back to the early 20th century when the river swimming spa laid its foundation. Nestled between the existing urban structure and central Kyjov Park, the complex now emerges as a vibrant hub surrounded by century-old trees.
Harmonious Architecture in Urban Interface
Blending with Urban Structure and Nature
The new building harmonizes with its surroundings, respecting the existing character of the area. A linear and finely structured design aligns along Mezivodí Street, gracefully concluding at the street’s endpoint. The forecourt, positioned on the main pedestrian and cycling route to the city center, underwent a revitalization process. Rejuvenating tree-lined alleys, modifying paved areas, and introducing urban structures contributed to the overall enhancement. Outdoor terraces accessible from the lobby invite pool visitors and passers-by to indulge in a relaxing cup of coffee at any time.
Aesthetic Facade and Indoor-Outdoor Connectivity
Softened Facade and Visual Continuity
The facade, adorned with brick strips and gold-colored perforated sheet metal, exudes elegance. Views through the building establish a visual link between the outdoor swimming pool area and the forecourt. The indoor pool chamber, strategically turned by ninety degrees, seamlessly connects with the outdoor greenery. Full-surface glazing intensifies the perception of merging indoor and outdoor spaces. The architectural vision extends to a gradual expansion of the pool’s construction over the next decade.
Diverse Indoor Pool Chamber
Swimming, Adventure, and Wellness
The indoor pool chamber unfolds into three main sections – swimming pool, adventure pool, and wellness. The 25m main swimming pool offers five lanes, complemented by benches with massage jets, water slides, and a whirlpool. A dedicated area for children ensures a delightful experience. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the adjacent park while immersing themselves in the pool. The wellness area boasts five saunas, each with unique characteristics, promoting intimacy and tranquility. Outdoor terraces enhance the wellness experience.
Ground Floor Features and Outdoor Splendor
Convenience and Refreshment Spaces
The ground floor encompasses changing rooms, showers, and cloakrooms for the outdoor pool. An Aqua bar counter caters to both indoor and outdoor swimming areas. The outdoor swimming pool retains its original charm, incorporating new stainless steel insertions. The adventure pool offers a range of features, including a massage bench, water slides, and a wading pool. A centrally located outdoor bar ensures refreshments for visitors.
In essence, the transformation of Aquapark Sport and Relaxation Center in the Czech Republic stands as a remarkable fusion of architectural innovation, historical preservation, and a commitment to offering a diverse and enjoyable aquatic experience for all.
