Crafting a Unique Experience: Craft Estate in Nonthaburi, Thailand

Craft Estate, nestled next to the across-river bridge in Nonthaburi, Thailand, is a triangular architectural marvel designed by ASWA (Architectural Studio of Work – Aholic). Spanning approximately 1,400 square meters, this innovative space is a vibrant hub for community interaction, offering a blend of craft beer, coffee, bar, and restaurant experiences with a picturesque river view.

Embracing Uniqueness

Situated between the across-river bridge and a public park, Craft Estate’s triangular design accentuates the site’s distinctiveness. The trapezoid plan shape maximizes the allowed built area, resulting in an inclined volume rising from 12 to 17 meters at its highest point. This architectural quirk points towards the Chaophraya River, symbolizing the project’s connection to its surroundings.

Functional Design

Craft Estate is intelligently divided into two main functional spaces: the restaurant area and the office space. The restaurant, located on the building’s quirk, spans four stories and offers a diverse range of experiences, including a coffee stand, craft beer bar, indoor and semi-outdoor dining areas, and a stepped rooftop for socializing. On the opposite side, the three-story office space provides ample room for workstations, meeting rooms, and executive offices.

Architectural Elements

ASWA chose white translucent fiberglass and precast concrete as the primary exterior materials, defining the conceptual cutting of the building. The white translucent fiberglass roof tiles allow diffused natural light to permeate the interior space during the day, creating a serene atmosphere. By night, the exterior facade illuminates the surroundings with a captivating glow, enhancing the building’s visual presence.

Fusion of Design and Function

Craft Estate seamlessly blends architectural innovation with functional design, offering a dynamic environment where visitors can indulge in culinary delights while enjoying breathtaking views of the river. Whether it’s savoring craft beer, sipping coffee, or engaging in collaborative work, Craft Estate invites individuals to immerse themselves in a one-of-a-kind experience that celebrates creativity and community.
