Situated on the 4th floor of the Shinsegae Department Store in Busan, South Korea, diagonal is a captivating showroom spanning 65 sqm, meticulously designed by Oftn studio. Formerly located in Hannam-dong, diagonal sought to establish a new showroom in Busan, envisioning a fresh and mood-enhancing space.
Innovative Spatial Composition
To facilitate seamless exploration of the entire space, the layout was carefully structured around a C-shaped framework, incorporating a hanger zone for product display. Six strategically positioned pillars not only guide movement but also introduce structural diversity, creating a visually dynamic environment. By juxtaposing achromatic materials with existing wall textures, the design embodies the brand’s ethos of simplicity and uniqueness.
Transformative Ceiling Design
The Barisol ceiling section adds a layer of versatility to the space, focusing on a hidden area behind the counter back wall to evoke a sense of privacy and partition. Concrete elements, metal shelves, and speaker zones merge functionality with aesthetics, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to authenticity. The deliberate contrast between stainless steel partitions and concrete panels, along with strategically placed mirrors, enhances the perception of depth and expansiveness within the showroom.
In essence, diagonal redefines the traditional showroom experience, offering visitors a curated space where simplicity meets innovation, and where every corner invites exploration and discovery.
